The cross is bold and linear, rendered in a plain hammered style. Surrounding the central device, the legend BERAS S VINOC, preceded by a cross, references the mint town of Bergues and the patron saint Winoc, to whom the issuing abbey was dedicated. The flan is irregular and the lettering somewhat uneven, as is characteristic of this period's ecclesiastical coinage. |
