A small cross or crosslet divides the two lines of the legend at center. The lettering fills the entire flan with little remaining field visible, a hallmark of Westphalian denier production of the late tenth century. The flan is broad and irregular, with surface fissures consistent with the hammered striking technique and age of the piece.
