The cross arms divide the field into four compartments, each bearing a single capital letter forming the royal title REXV. A circular Latin legend reading + HLVIDOVVICVSO REXV surrounds the beaded circle, typical of Carolingian hammered silver deniers in its crude but purposeful execution. |
