Corbie Abbey, founded in 657 AD near Amiens, held minting rights granted by Carolingian royal authority — a privilege the abbey defended fiercely through successive reigns. This issue falls within the reign of Odo of Paris, the first non-Carolingian to hold the Frankish throne, elected by the magnates in 888 following Charles the Fat's deposition.
