| Descrizione del rovescio | A plain cross with expanded arms occupies the center of the field within a beaded inner circle, a standard Carolingian reverse type. The arms of the cross extend nearly to the beaded border, dividing the inner field into four equal quadrants. The surrounding legend CORBIENSIS, introduced by a cross, identifies the issuing institution as the Abbey of Corbie. The lettering is arranged around the outer margin of the coin in the typical Carolingian minuscule epigraphic style, with slight irregularities consistent with hand-struck hammered coinage. |
