Reverse description As a bracteate, the reverse presents the incuse mirror image of the obverse type, showing the lion passant in concave intaglio relief, the mane lines and curled tail visible in reverse impression. The characteristic concentric rim rings of the bracteate flan are evident around the recessed field. The surface is plain with no additional inscriptions or secondary devices, the incuse impression being an inherent consequence of the single-die hammered bracteate striking method.
