| Obverse description | Within a raised beaded border, a cross pattée centered in the field, with a small crescent or pellet motif visible at the base of the cross. The design is struck in low relief characteristic of bracteate coinage, with the thin flan displaying the typical shallow impressions of hammered medieval technique. The Teutonic Order's Prussian branch minted bracteates as a practical concession to local monetary custom — the thin single-sided format was already entrenched in northern German markets before the Knights consolidated territorial control in the 13th century. Adopting it smoothed trade friction without requiring the Order to mint heavier bilateral coinage it couldn't yet support at volume.
Waschinski's classification remains the standard reference for Order bracteate typology, though Kop. and Wielandt diverge on precise attribution for several subtypes within this grouping.
