| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed and draped bust of Juba II facing right, portrayed with curly hair bound by a royal diadem, the ends of which fall behind the neck; the effigy reflects Hellenistic royal portraiture conventions adopted by the Mauretanian court. The circular Latin legend REX IVBA runs around the periphery of the field, identifying the issuing monarch. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered silver coinage of this period and mint. |
