| Popis rubu | Central motif features a plain Latin cross of Jerusalem set within a laurel or olive wreath, the cross rendered boldly in high relief against a flat field, with the wreath framing it in an inner circle. The cross and wreath composition is characteristic of the Portuguese Cruzado coinage, evoking the crusading symbolism for which the denomination was named. A beaded inner border separates the central design from the circumferential Latin legend in Gothic characters, which repeats the royal titulature of Manuel I.
