Rudstroj was a construction and engineering enterprise operating in socialist Yugoslavia's industrial sector. Kakanj, a coal-mining town in central Bosnia, hosted significant state-directed industrial development from the 1950s onward, and meal voucher systems — "bon za topli obrok" denoting a hot meal entitlement — were standard practice in Yugoslav worker-managed firms, where canteen subsidies formed part of the non-monetary wage package negotiated through workers' councils.
These internal vouchers were never legal tender and circulated only within the issuing enterprise's facilities. Paper examples from smaller regional firms like Rudstroj rarely survived once the canteen system changed or the company restructured.
