| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the crowned royal arms of France — a semi-circular shield semé of fleurs-de-lis — surmounted by a crown of Provence, with a single fleur-de-lis flanking each side of the shield, all contained within a raised trefoil border. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic uncial characters, reads KAROLVS FRANCORVM REX (Charles, King of the Franks), separated by pellet stops and running between two concentric beaded circles. |

The circular legend in Gothic uncial script, SIT nOmEn D BEnEDITVm A (Blessed be the name of the Lord), runs between two concentric beaded borders and is punctuated by pellet stops. |
