The four horses are rendered in dynamic motion, conveying the grandeur of the Roman triumph. The composition celebrates Trajan's Parthian campaigns and his posthumous triumphal honors awarded by Hadrian. The reverse legend TRIVMPHVS PARTHICVS arcs across the upper field.
