| Obverse description | Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator depicted in nimbus, shown in the concave (scyphate) field of the flan. Christ is robed in pallium and colobium, with the right hand raised in benediction and the left hand holding the Gospels. The nimbate bust is flanked on either side by the abbreviated Greek Christogram legend IC XC in the fields. The style is characteristic of debased Latin imitative coinage derived from Byzantine prototypes. |
