Untikesken — the Iberian name for the Greek colonial settlement at Emporion, modern Empúries on the Catalan coast — issued bronze coinage under increasing Roman administrative pressure throughout the late second and early first centuries BC. This issue falls within the period when Rome was tightening fiscal control across Hispania following the Sertorian War, yet local Iberian mints retained enough autonomy to strike in their own names through roughly 72 BC. The gens designation reflects the community's hybrid Greco-Iberian civic identity, neither fully Roman nor purely indigenous.
