| Beschrijving keerzijde | Galerius, in military dress with paludamentum and cuirass, stands facing right, his right hand gripping an upright spear and his left hand cradling a globus, symbolising sovereignty over the known world. The composition presents the Caesar in the canonical PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS type, associating him with the traditional role of heir-apparent and prince of youth. The reverse legend PRINCIPI IVVENTVT is disposed around the field, while the exergue carries the mintmark XXIς denoting the silver content and officina of the Diocletianic coinage reform. On certain specimens an additional control mark R appears in the right field. |
