The inscription reads the full imperial titulature: 'Sultan ul berreyn ve hakan ul bahreyn es sultan ibn es sultan,' proclaiming the ruler as Sultan of the two lands and Khagan of the two seas, son of the Sultan. The lettering is deeply struck with broad, sweeping strokes characteristic of large-module Ottoman billon coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. |
