| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, presented from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view typical of later Severan provincial coinage. The emperor's paludamentum and muscled cuirass are rendered in relief, with the laureate wreath clearly articulated above the nape. A Greek legend encircles the bust within the field, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The die engraving exhibits the robust, slightly provincial style associated with the Smyrna conventus workshop. |

| Reverse description | Two standing female divinities face one another at the centre of the reverse field, united in a cultic pairing emblematic of the civic alliance between Phocaea and Amisus. At left, the Tyche of Phocaea stands facing, head turned right, holding a long sceptre before her. Opposite, the Demeter of Amisus stands facing, head turned left, bearing a long torch and an ear of corn as attributes of her chthonic and agrarian character. The composition is framed by a circular Greek legend naming the presiding strategos and the two allied cities. The engraving reflects the monumental, hieratic style of large-module Severan provincial bronzes. |
