| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Lucius Verus, draped with paludamentum, facing right, viewed from centre. The obverse legend encircles the effigy in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by name and imperial title. The portrait exhibits the characteristic bearded physiognomy of Lucius Verus as rendered in provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor. The die work reflects the competent engraving style typical of the Carian mint at Aphrodisias during the joint reign. |

The inscription names Tiberius Claudius Zelos as priest and records an epinikon — a victory celebration — of the Aphrodisians, almost certainly tied to civic games or a festival honoring Aphrodite, the city's divine patron and the source of Aphrodisias's considerable prestige in the conventus. The reversed Ζ in the legend is a lapidary error carried directly from the die cutter, not a later damage mark.
