Obverse description Laureate bust of Commodus with long beard, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right and presented from behind, lending a distinctive three-quarter rear perspective. The imperial effigy conveys the mature military character of the emperor as adopted in his later coinage. The obverse legend, arranged in the surrounding field, identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The execution reflects the provincial die-cutting tradition of Ionian Smyrna, with bold relief typical of large-module civic bronzes of the Antonine period.
