The portrait is executed in low relief consistent with Phrygiaan provincial workshop practice of the Trajanic period. |

Hermes is depicted nude but for a chlamys draped over his left arm, holding a purse in his extended right hand and a caduceus in his left. The composition presents the two deities in a confronted arrangement, a iconographic type common to Phrygian civic bronzes of the imperial period. The ethnic legend ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ appears in the field or along the periphery of the reverse. |
