The emperor's laureate wreath is clearly articulated, and the portrait conveys the characteristic mature physiognomy of Valerian. A beaded border frames the entire field. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, reading Α Κ ΠΟ ΛΙΚΙ ΟΥΑΛΕΡΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |

The goddesses are rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Smyrnaean coinage of the mid-third century AD. The multi-line reverse legend fills the exergual and field areas, referencing the city's triple neocorate status and the presiding magistrate. A beaded border frames the composition. |
