The emperor's laureate wreath is clearly articulated, and the portrait conveys the characteristic mature physiognomy of Valerian. A beaded border frames the entire field. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, reading Α Κ ΠΟ ΛΙΚΙ ΟΥΑΛΕΡΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |

| Descripción del reverso | Two Nemeses standing facing one another in the field; the figure to the left holds a bridle, while the figure to the right holds a cubit rule; between their feet, a wheel rests on the ground line, symbolising the turning of fate. The goddesses are rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Smyrnaean coinage of the mid-third century AD. The multi-line reverse legend fills the exergual and field areas, referencing the city's triple neocorate status and the presiding magistrate. A beaded border frames the composition. |
