Gordian III is depicted laureate, draped, and cuirassed, his bust facing right and seen from the rear; Tranquillina faces left, her hair diademed and her shoulders draped. The jugate presentation of the imperial couple is a characteristic device of Severan-era provincial coinage. A Greek legend encircles the paired effigies within a dotted border. |

The composition is enclosed within a dotted border, with the civic legend of Odessos disposed around the periphery and the letter Ε (denoting the denominational mark or officina) in the field. |
