| Beschrijving voorzijde | Confronted busts of the emperor Gordian III and his empress Tranquillina, facing one another across the field. Gordian III is depicted laureate, draped, and cuirassed, his bust facing right and seen from the rear; Tranquillina faces left, her hair diademed and her shoulders draped. The jugate presentation of the imperial couple is a characteristic device of Severan-era provincial coinage. A Greek legend encircles the paired effigies within a dotted border. |

The composition is enclosed within a dotted border, with the civic legend of Odessos disposed around the periphery and the letter Ε (denoting the denominational mark or officina) in the field. |
