| Obverse description | Confronted busts of the emperor Gordian III and his empress Tranquillina, facing one another across the field. Gordian III is depicted laureate, draped, and cuirassed, his bust facing right and seen from the rear; Tranquillina faces left, her hair diademed and her shoulders draped. The jugate presentation of the imperial couple is a characteristic device of Severan-era provincial coinage. A Greek legend encircles the paired effigies within a dotted border. |

| Reverse description | Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, stands erect facing left in the centre of the field, rendered in full figure and clad in a long chiton and himation with flowing drapery. In her right hand she holds a bundle of ears of corn, and in her left a long torch extending downward toward the ground. The composition is enclosed within a dotted border, with the civic legend of Odessos disposed around the periphery and the letter Ε (denoting the denominational mark or officina) in the field. |
