| 裏面の説明 | Draped, veiled and turreted bust of Tyche, the city goddess of Carrhae, facing left, with a crescent moon above her head — an allusion to the city's ancient association with the lunar cult of Sin. Before her stands Marsyas, the satyr, depicted facing right and carrying a wineskin over his shoulder, positioned atop a short column or pillar in the left field. This juxtaposition of Tyche and Marsyas is a well-attested type for Carrhae's colonial coinage, emphasizing its status as a Roman colonia. The Greek colonial legend is inscribed around the reverse field. |
