| Obverse description | Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted seen from the rear in the characteristic Mesopotamian provincial style. The radiate crown is rendered with bold, spreading rays, and the cuirass is indicated by visible shoulder straps and decorative elements at the bust truncation. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, partially visible due to the irregular striking. |

| Reverse description | Draped, veiled and turreted bust of Tyche, the city goddess of Carrhae, facing left, with a crescent moon above her head — an allusion to the city's ancient association with the lunar cult of Sin. Before her stands Marsyas, the satyr, depicted facing right and carrying a wineskin over his shoulder, positioned atop a short column or pillar in the left field. This juxtaposition of Tyche and Marsyas is a well-attested type for Carrhae's colonial coinage, emphasizing its status as a Roman colonia. The Greek colonial legend is inscribed around the reverse field. |
