Obverse description Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted seen from the rear in the characteristic Mesopotamian provincial style. The radiate crown is rendered with bold, spreading rays, and the cuirass is indicated by visible shoulder straps and decorative elements at the bust truncation. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, partially visible due to the irregular striking.
