| Opis rewersu | The reverse depicts the celebrated sanctuary of Aphrodite of Paphos, rendered as a tetrastyle temple facade with a prominent arched pediment surmounting a colonnade of four columns, with lateral wings or enclosure walls extending to either side, reflecting the distinctive architectural form of the famous Paphian cult site. The composition is rendered in a schematic but recognizable manner typical of provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. The reverse legend encircles the type, referencing the strategos Hermophilos, the twice-neocorate status of Sardis, and the Paphian epithet of Aphrodite. |
