The portrait is rendered in the vigorous provincial style characteristic of the Sardis mint under the Severan and Gordian periods. The obverse legend runs around the periphery of the field in Greek characters. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse depicts the celebrated sanctuary of Aphrodite of Paphos, rendered as a tetrastyle temple facade with a prominent arched pediment surmounting a colonnade of four columns, with lateral wings or enclosure walls extending to either side, reflecting the distinctive architectural form of the famous Paphian cult site. The composition is rendered in a schematic but recognizable manner typical of provincial bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. The reverse legend encircles the type, referencing the strategos Hermophilos, the twice-neocorate status of Sardis, and the Paphian epithet of Aphrodite. |
