| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with the radiate crown conveying imperial solar iconography. The effigy displays characteristic mid-third-century provincial portraiture, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and scale armour visible on the cuirass. A Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. |

| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and civic deity of Nicaea, stands facing left in full figure, draped in a long chiton and himation. In her right hand she holds a ship's rudder resting on the ground, symbolising guidance and destiny, while her left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with fruits, representing abundance and prosperity. The figure is rendered in the conventional Hellenistic tradition common to Bithynian provincial coinage of the mid-third century. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field, asserting the civic identity of the issuing authority. |
