| Descrizione del dritto | Draped bust of the personified Roman Senate facing right, depicted as a diademed female effigy with elaborately rendered drapery visible at the shoulder and chest. The bust is rendered in a provincial style characteristic of Phrygian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The circular legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) surrounds the bust, partially visible around the periphery of the flan. |

His left foot rests upon a bucranium (ox skull), a characteristic attribute linking the deity to sacrificial ritual. The reverse legend ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗΝΩΝ (of the Sebastans) is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing civic community of Sebaste in Phrygia. |
