| Obverse description | Draped bust of Claudia Octavia, wife of Nero, facing right, her hair elaborately waved and gathered at the nape in a style characteristic of Julio-Claudian imperial portraiture. The legend encircles the effigy in the field, reading OCTAVIAE NERONIS AVG, dedicating the coin to Octavia as consort of Nero Augustus. The portrait is rendered in the conventional Roman provincial style, with fine drapery visible at the shoulder. |
