The composition reflects the venerated Ephesian cult image widely reproduced on provincial coinage of Asia Minor. The ethnic legend ΑΚΜΟΝΕΩΝ ('of the Acmoneans') appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Acmonea in Phrygia. |
