| 表面の説明 | Confronted busts of the imperial couple: the draped bust of Empress Messalina faces right toward the laureate head of Emperor Claudius, which faces left. The two effigies are rendered facing one another in the characteristic provincial confronted-portrait convention. The Greek legend ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥ ΚΑΙ ϹΕΒΑϹ (Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus) is partially visible around the field. The flan is irregular and the surfaces carry a dark green patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

The die work is typical of the Trallian civic mint under the Julio-Claudians, with a flat, broad flan and bold if somewhat worn relief. |
