The flan is irregular and the surfaces carry a dark green patina consistent with prolonged burial. |

The encircling Greek legend ΚΑΙΣΑΡΕΩΝ ΒΡΕΤΑΝΝΙΚΟΣ (of the Caesareans, the Britannicus) surrounds the central type, commemorating Claudius's conquest of Britain in AD 43. The die work is typical of the Trallian civic mint under the Julio-Claudians, with a flat, broad flan and bold if somewhat worn relief. |
