The goddess is rendered in a stiff, frontal, xoanon-like manner consistent with the archaic cultic tradition of the sanctuary at Hypaepa. The ethnic legend ΥΠΑΙΠΗΝΩΝ encircles the type in the field, identifying the issuing city. The reverse fabric is irregular, consistent with provincial hammered coinage of the mid-third century AD. |
