The portrait conveys the youthful features characteristic of Geta's early provincial coinage. The obverse legend is disposed around the bust in Greek characters. The style is consistent with Ionian provincial workshop production of the Severan period. |

The figure is depicted in the conventional Hellenistic tradition for personified river deities. The ethnic legend of the Metropolitans is disposed around the reverse field. The type reflects the civic pride of Metropolis in its local mythological traditions. |
