Additional information

The Yaudheyas were a kshatriya warrior republic occupying the Punjab and Haryana regions, known from Panini's grammar and later from Gupta-era inscriptions that describe them as a formidable confederacy. Their coinage is among the few surviving material records of a polity that resisted outside domination long enough to mint in its own name across two centuries. The specific attribution window reflects genuine scholarly uncertainty — the republic's numismatic chronology remains incompletely resolved, with Mitchiner's corpus still the primary reference precisely because so little excavation data has refined it.
