Obverse description Black on white note with ornate guilloche vignettes at left and right borders, large numeral "80" repeated in each corner. Central text panel bears the title "NEWFOUNDLAND GOVERNMENT CASH NOTE" above the "Department of Public Works" legend in script lettering, with the promise to pay the bearer Eighty Cents at the Bank of Montreal, St. John's.
