The issuer name "Burg auf Fehmarn" is set in large Gothic script across the lower centre, beneath which the legend "Das Stadtverordnetenkollegium" identifies the issuing body, accompanied by two manuscript facsimile signatures and a printed serial number at lower left. The narrative inscription runs across the top and bottom of the note in Gothic blackletter, invoking the Low German proverb concerning King Erich.
