Below the central motif, three lines of trilingual text read සහජීවනියේ අසිරිය in Sinhala, சகவாழ்வின் ஆச்சர்யம் in Tamil, and MARVEL OF COHESION in Latin script. The large numeral 150 appears prominently at the bottom of the central design, accompanied by the word සංවත්සරය in Sinhala, ஆண்டுநிறைவு in Tamil, and ANNIVERSARY in Latin script. The outer legend reads කොළඹ මහා නගර සභාව in Sinhala along the top, கொழும்பு மாநகர சபை in Tamil on the right, and COLOMBO MUNICIPAL COUNCIL on the left, separated by two stylised lotus ornaments. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border with a raised rim.

Additional information

The Colombo Municipal Council was established in 1865 under British colonial administration, making it one of the oldest functioning municipal bodies in South Asia. Its sesquicentennial fell during a period of significant political transition in Sri Lanka — the 2015 elections brought Maithripala Sirisena to the presidency, ending a decade of Rajapaksa rule, and commemorative programs from that year carry the subtle imprint of a government eager to project institutional continuity and civic pride.

The .925 silver specification places this squarely in the modern bullion-commemorative format favored by the Central Bank since the 1990s, sharing its weight and alloy with dozens of Commonwealth-issued crowns of the period.
