| Opmerkingen |
The Banque de Syrie was a French-chartered institution operating under the Mandate, and this 1920 issue predates the formal establishment of the Syrian pound — piastres syriennes were the unit in use during the transitional period immediately following the collapse of Ottoman monetary administration. France was still consolidating control after the San Remo conference of April 1920, and Faisal I had not yet been expelled from Damascus when this note would have been authorized.
Pick 14 is among the scarcer notes of this early Mandate series. The political instability of 1920 almost certainly disrupted normal distribution.
