| Obverse description | Printed in dark violet on a light ground, the obverse is dominated by the bank title BANQUE DE SYRIE in large letterpress across the upper register, with the numeral 50 and denomination PIASTRES SYRIENNES at each corner. A central rectangular vignette presents a harbour scene with a vessel and figures, below which the Arabic bank title appears within a decorative panel; the lower portion carries the bilingual denomination legend CINQUANTE PIASTRES ou UNE DEMI LIVRE SYRIENNE with its Arabic equivalent, a bilingual redemption clause, the place and date of issue BEYROUTH le 1er Juillet 1920, and two signature blocks above the lower-left denomination cartouche. |
