Opmerkingen

Schobüll is a small coastal community in Schleswig, and its 1921 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency currency — the period after the initial wartime shortages but before hyperinflation made small-denomination scrip irrelevant. By 1921, hundreds of German municipalities were issuing their own Kleingeldersatz, partly out of genuine necessity and partly because the collector market had turned notgeld into a minor commercial enterprise. Whether Schobüll's issue was driven by real coin shortage or souvenir demand is difficult to say with certainty.

Brandemann's signature as Gemeindevorsteher — the village headman — gives this note its only formal authority. No backing institution, no redemption guarantee beyond the municipality itself.
