Obverse description Central vignette shows a war memorial monument with a sculptural group of two male figures — one kneeling over a fallen comrade — set on a rectangular stone plinth inscribed with dates 1914–1918. A radiating sunburst forms the background behind the monument. To the left, a circular underprint cartouche carries the denomination '50 Pfg' in Gothic letterforms with ornamental framing; to the right, the circular municipal seal of Schmiedeberg bears a crowned heraldic eagle with the Latin legend 'SIGIL. CIVITATIS SCHMIEDEBERGENSIS REGIAE'. The printer's imprint 'FLEMMING–WISKOTT–A.G.–GLOGAU' appears below the lower border.

Reverse description The central vignette, designed and signed by W. Lippert, presents a polychrome panoramic landscape view of Schmiedeberg im Riesengebirge with the snow-capped Schneekoppe summit of the Giant Mountains rising in the background under a golden-streaked sky. Flanking the central scene are two side panels in dark ink: at left, a hiker in traditional mountain attire reading a map; at right, a figure in regional folk dress carrying a pole with a lantern. Denomination numerals '50' and 'Pfg' appear in blue cartouches at the lower corners, and the registration mark 'D.R.G.M. 795679.' is printed beneath the lower border.
