| Obverse description | Central vignette shows a war memorial monument with a sculptural group of two male figures — one kneeling over a fallen comrade — set on a rectangular stone plinth inscribed with dates 1914–1918. A radiating sunburst forms the background behind the monument. To the left, a circular underprint cartouche carries the denomination '50 Pfg' in Gothic letterforms with ornamental framing; to the right, the circular municipal seal of Schmiedeberg bears a crowned heraldic eagle with the Latin legend 'SIGIL. CIVITATIS SCHMIEDEBERGENSIS REGIAE'. The printer's imprint 'FLEMMING–WISKOTT–A.G.–GLOGAU' appears below the lower border. |
