Decorative scroll and foliage patterns fill the lateral panels, each containing a red "50" numeral in an oval medallion. "Kronach" is inscribed in Gothic blackletter at the top centre, with "fünfzig" at upper left and right and "Pfennig" at lower left and right; the artist's signature "F.
