Badetz is a small agricultural estate near Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt, and this note was issued by its pig-breeding operation — a Schweinezüchterei — during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany from 1916 onward. Private Notgeld of this type was tolerated, sometimes barely, by local authorities desperate for any functional substitute for withdrawn silver and copper coinage. An estate issuing its own scrip was not unusual by 1918, but a pig farm doing so remains among the more specific issuers in the Notgeld canon.
The DeNG reference confirms three varieties within this issue, likely distinguishing serial ranges or minor print differences.
