| 备注 |
Spain's 1893 50 Pesetas issue came during a period of acute colonial financial strain — the costs of maintaining Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines were pushing the Treasury toward chronic deficit, and the Banco de España was under increasing pressure to expand note circulation to cover government obligations. This note exists partly as a product of that squeeze.
Bartolomé Maura Montaner was one of the most accomplished engravers working in Spain at the time, better known for his work on official state documents and stamps than for banknotes. His involvement with the Banco de España's in-house workshop elevated the engraving quality noticeably above earlier issues in the series.
