| Mô tả mặt trước | The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, is depicted in right-facing truncated bust wearing the George IV State Diadem. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH·II D·G·REG·F·D, with FIFTY PENCE to the right and the date 2013 below. The engraver's initials IRB appear beneath the truncation. The design fills the heptagonal flan with characteristic high-relief portraiture typical of Rank-Broadley's treatment of the royal effigy. |

The name BENJAMIN appears across the upper field and BRITTEN across the lower field, both rendered in large block lettering overlaid on horizontal stave lines evoking musical notation. Between the two name bands, the inscription COMPOSER·BORN 1913 is set in a smaller font. Above, the legend ·BLOW BUGLE·BLOW· arcs across the top, while SET THE WILD ECHOES FLYING is inscribed at the base, both phrases drawn from Tennyson's poem set to music by Britten. The designer's initials TP appear as a small mark at the lower centre. |
